BARSTOW OF EXETER, NH. Cal. 69. There were approx 2300 muskets delivered from the 2500 gun contract with the US Gov't in preparation with a war with Europe. The flintlock is fitted with a 44" bbl with a "V" on the tang. The lock is marked "J&CB" behind the hammer and "EXETER" forward of the hammer. The stock is marked "CONN" opposite of the lock behind the side plate. The butt is marked with "18" on the top of the comb. CONDITION: Overall good attic found condition. Metal surfaces have a mottled dark brown patina. Stock has some edge chipping around the tang and some scattered dents and a few gouges. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (01-29580/ZAL) ANTIQUE $1200-1600.
